What a weekend!

So our adventure started last Thursday morning when we took Maddie to the doctor for a possible ear infection. Of course, both ears were infected! :( We started an antibiotic and decongestant and didn't think there would be much more to it. She began running a low grade fever on Saturday so we started giving her Motrin and she was fine throughout the day. She woke up around 10:00 Saturday night screaming hysterically. I panic and run in to her room to see her solid red and as soon as I touch her I began to panic even more. Her skin was so hot....checked her temp and it was 104.7. So....off we go to the ER. After 4 hours in the ER, a chest X-ray, a dose of Motrin, and a dose of Tylenol we find out she has pneumonia. The word in itself scares me. We've had lots of experience dealing with ear infections but didn't really know what to expect with pneumonia. She ran a fever of about 100 Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon but it started to get higher and higher as the night went on. Motrin and Tylenol were certainly not helping and sure enough her temp was back above 104 around midnight on Sunday. So...off we got to the ER...for the second night in a row. I know some people may think we were over reacting but it is a terrible feeling when you know your child feels terrible, their temp is steadily rising, and nothing you are doing is working. We get to the ER and have the same doctor as the night before. She talked about how her body could be resisting the antibiotic and that was causing her fever to spike but then goes on to say that she didn't think she was going to do anything. She pretty much told us she would be fine and was about to send us home. For those of you that know me probably know how I reacted. I guess you could say the "mother hen" side of me came out. :) What were we supposed to do? Just let her temp keep rising and hope she felt better in the morning?!? In the end, she finally gave her a shot. Our Mother's Day began and ended in the ER but I somehow managed to get a few cute pictures out of the weekend. As of today we have had 2 doctors appointments and 2 ER visits in 5 days. We are so grateful to have good insurance! Maddie is feeling much better, got a good report from the doc, is back to eating everything she can get her hands on, and hasn't had a fever all day! Thank you Lord!!!

Where did she learn this?

Maddie has started a very silly/cute/mischievous stage in the last two weeks. She does some of the cutest things but I caught her on video today!! In the video, she has a container of "puffs" and has somehow learned to open the container with her mouth. I have no idea if she's seen someone else do this or if she figured it out on her own but it's quite funny to watch. The little dance she does in this video gives me a good laugh too!
